This is just one stop journey on the Yamanote sen in Tokyo. I do like train too after all, for their sound though ; ).

  1. I travelled on the Yamanote line for one and a half years. This recording has brought those days back in such a clear way, the introductory music, the crisp clean female Japanese announcement, the smooth de-acceleration. The magic of sound!

    1. thanks for your comment. Since you lived here I guess you also know the madness of the crowd :-).
“The magic of sound” well said! still trying to figure what to post for the WLD. Lastly thanks for sharing your sound work too, always a pleasure to listen.

    1. Hi Alastair, I had a listen to your post, all those sounds bring back a lot of memories, since a spend some time in London, in trains, along the Thames and at the Tate :-). Thanks for sharing.

  2. Thank you so much for this – I spent a week as a visitor in Tokyo while my work was on exhibit at the Tokyo Met and miss it terribly. It was a wonderful place, and I don’t think I could ever get enough of the sounds of the Yamanote Line. This immediately took me back to an unforgettable week.

    1. Thank you Chris for stopping by and for downloading the whole album. Im glad you have enjoyed it and that you had a good time in Tokyo. And yes yamanote sen seems to be quite an icon, especially those charming melodies you hear in each station. There use to be an app called ‘yamanote soundrop’ with all the stations melodies but was taken off the App Store, however you can download them here if you are interested.
