木々のざわめき – Leaves Choir

Wind is one of those hard-to-capture sounds for me personally mostly because of the location or lack of wind when I manage to escape Tokyo. In this occasion, however, i was lucky.  I was heading towards Honzawa onsen with a few friends, and once we arrived by car at the bottom of the trail early in the morning, the wind was gloriously blowing through the trees. While everyone else was taking a nap before the hike, I with excitement headed into the first patch of thick forest and recorded a long take of the beautiful sound of wind shaking the surrounding leaves.

Here is an interesting post about how to record wind by Gordon Hempton, a sound recordist that dedicated most of his life to acoustic ecology.
